- Open a web browser and go to http://bwa.dartmouth.edu.
- At the login, type in your Dartmouth netID and password. Click here if you need to look up your netID.
- Once logged in, click on the gear icon in the upper right of the screen. In the drop down menu that appears, click on Office 365 Settings.
- Click on the Software link.
- Click the Install button.
- When prompted, save the file.
- Open the downloaded file and double-click the Office Installer.
- Click Continue through a couple screens. You will then be asked to Agree with the license agreement. Please do so to continue.
- At the next screen, click Customize.
- I would recommend unchecking the following: Microsoft Document Connection, Automator Actions, and all Proofing Tools languages except English and any other you may use.
- You will be asked to enter your computer password and then click Install Software.
- Click Close once the install completes. You will then be presented with the following screen.
- Select the middle option, Sign in to an existing Office 365 subscription.
- Enter your full Dartmouth email address at the next screen ([email protected]).
- On the next screen enter your [email protected] as the UserID and your email password.
- Click Don’t Allow regarding Microsoft accessing your Contacts.
- Enter your first and last name. This information is what shows up when you track changes and make comments on documents.
- Make sure to get updates automatically from Microsoft and you probably don’t want to participate in the customer experience improvement program.
- You’re just about done. The last thing to do is to get Office up to date. To do so, just open Word. Cancel out of the windows that appear until you see the Microsoft Updater. Click Install. Keep in mind that you may have to open and close Word a few times for all of the updates to run.

- If you scroll down the page, you will have the option to install Office 2010. I would recommend sticking with Office 2013.
- Once you pick your poison, you will have a popup asking you to save the install file. Go ahead and do so.
- Open the file (it should be a quick download). Follow the prompts to install Office. There are no configurable options, so once you are done, you are actually finished installing Office. It will automatically be activated and linked to your netID.
